Stephen William Bragg better known as Billy Bragg is an English singer-songwriter and left-wing activist. His music combines elements of folk music, punk rock and protest songs, with lyrics that usually include political or romantic themes. His music is strongly focused on bringing about change and engaging the younger generation in his activist goals.
Influenced by the music of The Clash and his dislike of the English political climate under Thatcher in the 1970s, Billy Bragg began writing his first songs. He was part of the punk group Riff Raff before embarking on a solo career in 1981. Meanwhile, Bragg’s career spans more than forty years and he has worked with international icons such as Johnny Marr, R.E.M. and Wilco. Even today, the British singer is still one of the most intriguing protest singers in the world and is coming back to spread his message on the stage of De Roma with enormous enthusiasm!
