CRASH COURSE IN SCIENCE
The band was formed in 1979 by Dale Feliciello, Mallory Yago and Michael Zodorozny. They eschewed the sounds of conventional instrumentation, using toy instruments and kitchen appliances to enhance the distortion of guitar, drums and synthetic rhythms. Commissioned by Lee Paris, DJ at local radio station WXPN, they record the single Cakes in the Home (with B-side featuring Kitchen Motors and Mechanical Breakdown) for his Go Go label (GO GO R001). This was followed by Signals from Pier Thirteen (Press Records P 2001) in 1981, produced by John Wicks at Third Story Recordings.
In the years following the band’s split, Crash Course in Science’s music aroused keen interest among techno and electro musicians, and the group was cited as an influence on the electroclash scene in the 2000s. In 2009, they reformed for tours, and in 2011 Schematic Records released a reissue of Signals from Pier 13, as well as Near Marineland, an album originally recorded by the band in 1981, before being shelved. In 2017, the band released a new album Situational Awareness.
THE JUGGERNAUTS – new school EBM
The Juggernauts is a project by BORG (aka Peter Mastbooms / The Klinik). Their debut EP and album were mixed and co-produced by Glenn Keteleer. The Belgian band fuses the minimal, rhythmic and bass structures of EBM with a more aggressive, modern approach.
Today, the band performs as a trio with BORG on vocals and effects, Kevin Strauwen on drums and percussion and Terence Gryson on samplers and synths. source: ether agency
