Former frontman of the successful band Ultravox and co-writer of Band Aid hit ‘Do They Know It’s Christmas Time’.
In 1982, Midge Ure released his first solo single ‘No regrets’, a cover of Walker Brothers. After a break with Ultravox, Ure records the solo record ‘The Gift’, with the singles ‘If I Was’ and ‘That Certain Smile’.
In 1988, he moves on permanently as a solo artist: Ultravox broke up. Albums ‘Answers To Nothing’ (1988), ‘Pure’ (2014) and ‘Breathe Again’ followed. With good friend and Live Aid organising partner Bob Geldof, Ure also wrote the Band Aid hit ‘Do They Know It’s Christmas?’.
Midge Ure will take to the stage in 2022 with a new tour highlighting two Ultravox albums: ‘Rage in Eden’ and ‘Quartet’. “After the initial success of the Vienna album, the years 1981 – 1982, during which we as a band created the Rage In Eden and Quartet albums, were a rush of creativity and touring that passed all too quickly – I’m looking forward to digging back into these two albums to revive the textures and power of these two albums, where Ultravox were, in my view, at the height of our creative powers,” Midge Ure says.(source: Depot)
