To celebrate the worldwide release of their critically acclaimed album “Under the Midnight Sun,” The Cult is coming to their fans in Europe on a grand summer tour that will begin in AB! It will be an evening of their greatest hits as well as songs from their new album.
The Cult returns to the stage to launch the next chapter of “Under The Midnight Sun.” Frontman Astbury hopes the new dimensions in the album will evoke primal, sublime responses from listeners – an echo of what he himself experienced during its creation.
“At its core, music contains the vibrational frequency of how people once communicated before they could even speak,” Astbury explains. “Birdsong, animal sounds, string theory, quantum physics, psychedelics…. The album is about discovering and reevaluating the beauty of those strange natural moments that surround and inspire us.”
Produced by Tom Dalgety (Pixies, Ghost, Royal Blood), this eleventh album vividly shows how The Cult’s founding members Ian Astbury and Billy Duffy continue to deepen their mystical qualities. Flanked by Duffy’s atmospheric riffs and rousing solos, Astbury reaches new heights in his vocal vulnerability – enhancing the album’s stillistic magic with a lyrical perspective as evocative and mysterious as the paradox contained in the album’s title itself.
